Naming a player

Name a player one of three ways: the number from #kova who, their exact name in quotes, or their player ID.

• #kova who lists everyone online with a number. Numbers are the quickest.
• A name must be exact: capitals, spaces and every character count. If two players share it, nobody is picked.
• A player ID also reaches somebody who is offline, on ban, unban, release, gm block, gm unblock, the role commands and why.

Seven commands also have a short form without #kova: #heal, #healall, #time, #rank, #rankall, #promote and #demote.

Good to know

• ban takes minutes; 0 means no end date. jail takes 1 to 1440 minutes. gm give with no number lasts until taken away; a number is minutes, 5 to 10080.
• say can name an audience first: #kova say staff ..., #kova say everyone ..., #kova say faction:US ....
• who marks staff, jailed players and unverified identities. why explains where a player’s access comes from. top lists the five players with the most kills.
• reload re-reads the settings file, the messages and the roles without a restart and tells you the settings health.
• A command that produced a recorded decision answers with the decision reference in square brackets.
• who recent and find appear in help but are not built in this version.

Reports and requests from players

Any player can tell staff about something, with or without a role.

• #kova report 3 Glitching through the wall files a report about another player. The answer is Your report is with the staff.
• #kova admin Stuck in terrain at the bridge asks for an admin, or adds to your open request.
• #kova adminstatus shows the state of your request and the last three replies.

Every staff member online with See the staff list gets one chat line when a report or request comes in, and finds it on the Reports page.

1. Search by name or reason. Press Enter.
2. Claim, Resolve..., Observe, Reply... and Release for the selected item.
3. Show closed: the items already dealt with. Press again for the open ones.

Claim	An open report or request	Takes it. Nobody else can claim it while you hold it.
Resolve…	A report or request you hold	Closes it. For a report, you write a note the reporter never sees.
Observe	A report you hold	Moves your Game Master camera to the reported player. Your camera has to be open.
Reply…	A request you hold	Sends a reply only the player who asked can read.
Release	A request you hold	Hands it back to the queue.

A report’s reason is up to 200 characters and a player can have three open. A request is up to 300 characters, takes three follow-ups and up to ten replies, and replies to a player who left are kept for two weeks.

What a refusal looks like

Situation	Answer
Your role may not do it	That is not something this role may do.
Your identity is not confirmed yet	This server has not confirmed who you are yet; try again in a moment.
You used the same command a moment ago	That command was just used; give it a second.
No such player	No player on this server answers to that. Use the number from #kova who, the exact name in quotes, or the player's identity.
Two players share the name	More than one player answers to that name; use the number from #kova who.
No such command	There is no KOVA command called <word>. Use #kova help.
A file the decision needs could not be read	A line naming the file that is waiting.

Ten refusals in a minute are treated as somebody probing the tools and recorded as a security event.

RCON

The command is registered for RCON, but RCON reaches the mod without saying who is typing, so everything except #kova info and #kova help is refused. Use the panel for remote kicks, bans and broadcasts.
